launches LIMITED-EDITION SPIRIT : “THE MANDARIN”

Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong launches The Mandarin, a limited-edition spirit curated in partnership with Two Moons Distillery to celebrate the hotel’s 60th Anniversary.

Made in collaboration with none other than Devender Sehgal, mastermind behind The Aubrey (one of Asia’s 50 Best Bars, 2023), the spirit pays tribute to the hotel’s original name when it first opened in October 1963 — The Mandarin — and draws inspiration from the essence of the hotel’s beloved room fragrance, incorporating Osmanthus and Grapefruit at its core.

With a beautiful blend of six local ingredients and beloved Asian herbs, The Mandarin unveils a symphony of flavours. Kaffir Lime Leaf delicately pays homage to the hotel's Oriental heritage, infusing the spirit with a subtle yet captivating essence that contributes to its overall bright, zesty, and inviting aroma. The inclusion of Ginger, celebrated for its culinary and medicinal virtues, imparts a gentle warmth and profound depth to the spirit's palate. Adding an exhilarating kick, coriander seed harmoniously works with the Ginger to create a tantalizing burst of spice. As a beautiful ending note, the infusion of Oolong Tea gracefully ties The Mandarin Oriental spirit back to the vibrant tapestry of Hong Kong's tea culture.


In our unwavering dedication to sustainability, we have also embraced the inclusion of two extraordinary ingredients: the frequently overlooked Wampee Leaf, sourced meticulously from the Wampee fruit, as well as Lychee Skin, harmoniously contributing to a remarkably smooth finish.

Harnessing the essence of The Mandarin as the foundation, Sehgal masterfully crafts the Mandarin Gimlet, a signature cocktail that embodies the essence of sophistication and innovation. As of the 16th of October, guests are invited to embark on a sensory expedition at The Aubrey, Captain's Bar, and Chinnery, where the Mandarin Gimlet awaits — indulge in this extraordinary libation and raise your glass in tribute to six decades of excellence and hospitality!
